Award-Winning Video Editor Hits Kickstarter, Supports Windows, Mac, and Linux

Arlington, TX (PRWEB) March 21, 2013

OpenShot Video Editor, a leading open-source application for Linux, has unveiled a Kickstarter campaign to bring its popular video editor to the Windows and Mac operating systems, along with many new professional-level features. The campaign is off to a quick start, with more than 17% funding in its first 3 days. The campaign will run until April 17th, 2013.

"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring OpenShot to Windows and Mac for the very first time, and let a new generation of users discover its simplicity and power", stated Jonathan Thomas, creator and lead developer.

OpenShot Video Editor has a strong set of features, including the ability to trim & arrange video clips, rotate videos, picture in picture, layer graphics over video, and chroma key (removing a color from a video, commonly called green-screen). However, even though it has a large number of powerful video editing features, it has a very gentle learning curve. The interface is simple, options are easily understandable, and a complete help manual is available in over 50 languages, if a user needs some guidance.

One of the new professional-level features planned in the Kickstarter campaign, is a powerful animation system, which allows almost everything in the video to be animated with very smooth motion. It uses curves, which the user can control, much like a drawing program. These "animation curves" can then be combined into much more complex animations, enabling the user a great amount of freedom.

Time re-mapping is another new feature, which allows the user to control the speed and direction of a video with a few clicks of the mouse. When the video speed is changed, so does the audio speed, creating some very interesting sounding effects. Time re-mapping is a unique feature in OpenShot, not available in any other open-source video editor.

"Windows and Mac users have been asking us to bring OpenShot to their platforms for years. If enough people back our Kickstarter campaign, that time will finally come!", said Thomas.
