Magisto And TechCrunch Disrupt Announce Telller As Winner Of 2014 TechCrunch Disrupt Movie Contest
NEW YORK, May 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --TechCrunch Disrupt -- Magisto, the award-winning mobile video editing application, today announced Telller as the winner of the first TechCrunch Disrupt movie competition, which invited entries from TechCrunch Disrupt Startup Battlefield and Startup Alley companies to use the Magisto app to tell their startup stories.
Participants were encouraged to use the popular Magisto app to automatically create and share movies that expressed their startups' story and demonstrated how they are disrupting their respective industries. Telller, an app that allows you to capture and collect shared experiences by inviting friends and combining texts and photos, was selected for its creativity and image quality. Among the top viewed videos, it depicted the product life in a startup. The three Telller founders joined Paula Batson, VP Marketing Communications from Magisto, on the stage at the close ofTechCrunch Disrupt NY.
"Our goal has long been to make the world a more connected place through video storytelling and startups have great stories to tell. We got great movies and were so impressed with all the entries," said Reid Genauer, CMO of Magisto. "We wanted to create a way for entrepreneurs to capture and share the intensity and dedication that goes into a young company, and the entries we received showed the imaginative spirit we've all come to expect from startups."
"It was so much fun play with Magisto when creating a video for Telller. The UI is beautiful and it made it easy for us to tell our story and get on stage at TechCrunch Disrupt," said Sabrina Viitasaari, Founder and Head of PR and Communications for Telller.
Inspired by the entries at TechCrunch Disrupt, Magisto is launching an additional contest, open to any startup. Startups need to download the Magisto app for iOS or Android or through Magisto.com, create an account, and make their movie. The movies should tell the story of their startup and how they are disrupting their industry, using images and footage of the team, product, logos, website and anything that makes their startup unique. All movies with the #StartupLife hashtag in the title will automatically be entered into the contest and will appear on the Startup Life Movie Contest landing page.
The winning entry will receive two tickets to TechCrunch Disrupt San Francisco in September 2013 OR a 13-inch Macbook Pro with retina display and $1,000 for their startup.
Participants have until May 25, 2014 at 11:59pm EDT to submit a movie, and the winner will be selected from the top 50 most-viewed movies. See more at: http://blog.magisto.com/2014/04/23/startup-life-contest/ - sthash.UheE4ue2.dpuf
