To Celebrate Earth Month, the Brita FilterForGood Music Project Joins the Spring 2012 Campus Consciousness Tour

Tour Will Combine Music, Environmental Awareness and Offer Students Opportunities to Go Green (April 09, 2012)

OAKLAND, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 04/09/12 -- This Earth Month, the Brita FilterForGood Music Project is hitting the road on Reverb's 10th biannual Campus Consciousness Tour (CCT). The tour educates and mobilizes students to take positive actions for the planet, while keeping the environmental footprint of the tour to a minimum. At each tour stop, students can check out the Reverb Eco-Village and enjoy free music from singer-songwriter Pete Kilpatrick, followed by an evening performance from J. Cole and special guest Big K.R.I.T. The 18-date college tour runs from April 11 to May 3 and visits campuses along the East Coast and throughout the Midwest, including University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Ohio State University and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

As a CCT sponsor, the Brita FilterForGood Music Project works with fans, artists and backstage crews to make concerts more sustainable by encouraging everyone involved to use reusable bottles filled with Brita® filtered water or a Brita® Bottle with a built-in water filter. The movement has helped concert-goers divert waste from landfills and keep money in their wallet by staying hydrated while rocking out to their favorite artists. To date, the campaign has saved more than 360 million plastic bottles from potentially ending up in landfills. Additionally, one Brita pitcher and Brita Bottle filter can replace up to 300 plastic bottles* from ending up in the trash and save anyone roughly $1,750** a year by switching from plastic bottled water to Brita filtered water.

Brita FilterForGood Music Project on Tour
Concert-goers can stop by the Brita FilterForGood Music Project tent to play games, win prizes and do their part to reduce bottled water waste by filling up a reusable Nalgene® bottle with free Brita filtered water. Brita also invites students to recycle their used Brita filters through the Preserve Gimme 5 program to receive a new filter in exchange while supplies last. Preserve Gimme 5 transforms the plastic from Brita pitcher and bottle filters into 100 percent recycled new Preserve products, like toothbrushes and razors. Visitors can also learn more about student programs like HydrateU, a program designed to help colleges and student organizations reduce their bottled water waste by installing a Brita® Hydration Station™ on campus.
