While there are applications that are just starting to introduce the ability to work with 360-degree video, Scratch VR from Assimilate just may be the best application for your next (or first) project. ...Read More »

Now in the third installment, "Jeepers Creepers III" shows what happened in the days between the first two movies when the Creeper was still hunting for victims. For Cole Claassen it all started with country music. "We wanted to shoot in 4K and had heard so much about the URSA Mini 4.6K," noted Claassen. "Its size was very convenient to our run-and-gun, fast setup format that we were basically regulated to by the celebrity interviewees who were very busy and kind enough to give us the time they did. Content Insider #549 - Show Me By Miles Weston We like the most recent news that folks like Google, YouTube and Facebook are adding people to help their systems choose good and bad content. Too many people are putting unwavering faith in the technology that is supposed to make their job easier and their decisions easier. Somehow that doesn't really work for the video content we develop, distribute and view. Too many variables are involved including things like "this is what I feel like right now, right here." Even a couch potato has something going on in his/her mind - even at the subconscious level - or they'd forget to breath. The new standards that are being rolled out will make content even richer, better, more intense but it will still require people who know how to produce great content and who appreciate it. Otherwise it will be a real waste. ...Read More »

Content Insider #532 - Content Delivery By Miles Weston There's more and better content available today than you can possibly view in a lifetime thanks to great work indie filmmakers are doing. The key is getting the right titles to come to your attention to invest your time in viewing. You could let the network tell you what they think is best for you but that kinda sucks. No it's more fun, more enlightening to find the best stuff off the beaten path like at Vimeo. The key will be new technology that enables richer content to get to your screen regardless of where you're watching it. At IBC we'll hear the promises and at SMPTE we'll hear about the progress that has been made. Hint - It's all good and getting better! ...Read More »
